We went on an awesome camping trip last month. It started out a little rough with a tire blowout on the camper just 20 minutes after we left the house. As we got close to our camp spot there were "no campfire" signs everywhere, so Jason wanted to go somewhere else. By now it's getting dark. The last time we set up camp in the dark, we found that we had parked the camper on top of 3 graves. This time, just to be safe, we drove to a campsite we were already familiar with. I was disappointed because the original destination was in walking distance to a creek where we could fish and the kids could splash around. Hoping it wouldn't be packed, we drove to Boulder Wall/Hart Canyon by Woods Canyon Lake. No one else was there which was a miracle! We made tacos for dinner and got the kids in bed. There had been some rain the previous week, so we went to sleep listening to the frogs. When the kids woke up, (way too early) they yelled Water! Water! Sure enough, 20 ft away from us was a running stream. It was absolutely breathtaking! We were thrilled at the way it worked out. On a map, it shows that there is a creek there, but we had never seen it running before. Did I mention it was beautiful? There will little tiny fish and crawdads to catch, and it was deep enough in some places that the kids could actually swim. The kids had heard me and Jason saying that if people knew there was running water here, it would be swarming with other campers, so they named it our "Secret Creek". I loved that we got to have some peaceful time in such a lovely setting and that after a rough start, Heavenly Father showed us some tender mercy and sent us in the right direction!
She fell off and into some pretty deep water the second I took this pic!
Jammies were the only clean and dry clothes Brooklyn had left.
