It seems like almost everyone we know is struggling right now, financially. In some ways it's hard to watch other's suffer and feel the emotions that go along with it. I like to think that the hard times should be referred to as "humbling times". We get the chance to reflect on our own personal preparedness, whether you're truly lacking or may be ready to move it up to the next level. Tough times should trigger more feelings of gratitude and appreciation. I'M GRATEFUL MY HUSBAND HAS A JOB! I'm grateful that everyone in our little family is healthy and disease free. I'm so glad that we understand our purpose here on Earth, and for the knowledge and blessings we receive by living the gospel of Jesus Christ.
On another note, one of my piano parents approached me with a proposition. They're no longer able to pay for piano lessons and asked if I would consider a barter. I've had bad experiences with trades in the past, and so I quietly waited to see what they were offering. The mom asked how I felt about meat, and I just chuckled and grinned. She grabbed a large bag from her car and showed me the 2 chuck roasts, 2 rump roasts and 5 lbs of ground beef from one of their grain fed cows. I immediately said "DEAL!" and happily took the goodies! Isn't mountain living great?! We talked about future months and came up with a plan. As she left she told me how relieved she felt. I began planning a yummy dinner for the next day and thought that this is one trade where I'm more than happy to get the raw end of the deal!!
