Dance Decision

Brooklyn's been invited to join the dance company at her studio. It's equivalent to all-stars in little league. We're really proud of her for being recognized, and joining the official dance company would give her the opportunity to go to conventions, compete, and participate in special performances. However, she would need to go to dance 3 times a week, instead of 2. I'm really hesitating on this because the dance studio is a 25 minute drive (each way) from my house, and a dance day literally takes up most of our after school time. If it were Caleb and baseball, would I still hesitate? I guess I'm not sure how dedicated I am to this whole "dance mom" thing. Money isn't the issue, it's really about time. When I was in jr. high, my friend Lacy's mother was a psycho Nazi about dance, and I remember the pressure that Lacy felt. I don't ever want my kids to feel like that. So, should I just do the extra dance day while Brooklyn still really loves it and wants to go? I would LOVE comments on this one?

That's a tough one. We haven't really gotten our kids into anything that they love yet, and I love having the free time. My thought would be if it is what she really wants to do, and she understands the time comitment and things that come along with it....... ? I don't know. Good luck, I think that is great that she is such a beautiful dancer! How fun, let me know what happens!

What a wonderful blog and absolutely beautiful pictures. You will get your answer the same way you handled the "take the truck on the campout" situation. You are close to the spirit. What does Brooklyn want? Three days a week is a lot for an 8 yr old. How will the time commitment affect your husband and the other three children? Baseall is seasonl. Dance is all year long. Tough decisions. She does have natural talent. Pray as a family. You'll know what to do. Love, Mom
