This morning I walked into my bathroom and found Brooklyn busy at work. My sink was filled to the top with soapy water and sopping wet stuffed animals. She was hard at work scrubbing her stuffed cat, stuffed unicorn, dolphin and horse. It's been quite awhile since these favorite friends have seen the washing machine, so they looked like new when she showed them to me. She was trying to not make a big mess, and was doing great at squeezing all the water out of them before they were moved. I really didn't mind, and stood there and chatted with her for a moment. Then she reached her hand into the dirty water to finish the dolphin, and pulled out my toothbrush to do the work! I asked if that's what she washed all the animals with, she said yes, and that it's what shes been using the last few times she's been grooming her fuzzy toys. I quickly wondered how I missed the scent of Irish Spring Sport in the bristles of my toothbrush. Brooklyn and I had a nice talk about personal belongings, yada yada yada.....and I was grateful for my stash of tooth brushes that I still had from my coupon sense days.
So when they say, "What you don't know won't hurt you!" I'll always remember the week I shared my toothbrush with a bunch of wet and smelly animals.
