The day just started bad. I had to get up a few times in the night with the kids, so I didn't sleep well. I wasn't excited about turning 29 in the first place, so I'm sure my attitude didn't help. After slathering on the anti-wrinkle cream, I went off to my scrapbook group with my last minute not-so-great page to show off. That was fine. Then I get a call from Jason saying that our water was shut off. He was pretty mad. Turns out that when I payed the $28 bill via my bank's billpay the week before, it shipped out on time. The town claimed it never arrived. After I pitched a fit in their office, and just payed the dang fee, it was turned back on. The check "mysteriously" showed up on the secretary's desk the next day, and they did refund the fee, but now my birthday morning was shot. I realized what I wanted was my sisters. I could close my eyes and picture us sitting at a delicious restaurant, laughing too loud and torturing some young waiter, and wishing they didn't insist on the servers singing Happy Birthday! Jason took me to lunch, that flexibility is something we enjoy about his job. We raced home so I could be there when my piano students showed up. They didn't show up. UUuuurgh! My wise husband knew what would get me out of the slump. Last year he traded a shotgun for a quad, which I still hadn't driven. After a quick lesson on manual transmission's and hand clutch use, I was off! It was so much fun! I took each kid for a spin and rode around by myself. I'm totally hooked! Jason's a smart man. We went inside for dinner when it was just getting too cold. Afterwards, Jason surprised me with a Dairy Queen birthday cake! So so so so delicious!

Happy Belated Birthday Amy! They just aren't the same when you are the mom, as when you were a kid. I am glad that your challenging birthday turned out well at the end.
